Fearfully and Wondefully Made

I posted this as a comment on post about if a child is born with special needs, should we be praying for their healing. These are my thoughts on it. Just maybe God has an amazing purpose for your child’s life and needs, maybe that purpose is to change you. We are each fearfully and wonderfully made, handcrafted by God. I believe that God does not make mistakes. We are born to be what He created, not what we think we should be.    “ For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:13-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “ My son was born with a spinal cord issue. He was born with a purpose: he pointed me to Christ because I was heading straight out of my faith and the church doors. I didn’t have a choice to cry out to Jesus to heal my broken heart. God allowed my son to be born with a tethered spinal cord to teach us to rely on Him. My son has surger...

Lessons Learned

Too much stuff weighs your whole being down. Letting go of it all, is so freeing and life changing. We have been programed to think that more things will make us happier but that is a pure lie. Excess stuff holds you back. It creates fears of not being good enough. Too many things creates chaos and disorder in your house and mind. Through this process, I have learned that without all the stuff that I can breathe easier,  that I am more at peace in my mind and soul, I am not dreading someone showing up unexpectedly because my house is a giant mess because I have no place for all of these things that I have accumulated. Owning less is way easier than trying to clean up excess stuff all the time. This is the simple lesson that I learned through all of this.   Simple but true! Major differences that have happened:  - My floors are staying cleaner longer. There was too much stuff that had no home, so it ended up on the floor. - My laundry is staying caught up. I can d...

Another Life Lesson Learned

Image
I am tired. I am tired of giving all without being filled back up. I am empty, my needs have all been placed on the back burner. I have got to start taking care of myself properly. It is okay to put your needs first. I am learning that things that others classify as selfish, are not.  I am not selfish to spend extra money on healthy food to nourish my body.  I am not selfish for loosing myself in a knitting project or a Xbox game, in order to combat the stress that I feel and instead of tackling the dishes in the sink or the mess on the floor.  I am not selfish for telling my kids to go play and give me a little bit of quiet.  I am not selfish for telling others no, I cannot help with that right now. I am not selfish for finding a place where heart is blessed and happy. I am not selfish for taking 30 minutes a day to do yoga. I am not being selfish when I need a break from my husband, kids and dogs. I am simply learning and choosing to refill my cup s...

Day 6/7 Learning Patience In This "Everything Now" World

In this "info at your fingertips now" kind of world that we live in now, I find I have no patience. I have gotten used to things being done as soon as I want it to be. I can inform the whole world of anything in an instant. I can take a picture of my kids and show my family right then. Download a new favourite song right to my iPhone as soon as I hear it for the first time. I have become too used to not waiting for anything in life. I am finding that as a Mom of small children (almost 6 yrs. old, 4 yrs. old and 2.5 months) that I am expecting things to be done in the very moment when I ask them to be. Kids do not work like the Internet does. They do not follow a sequence of key strokes or finger taps. They have their own thoughts and feelings. I am learning that I need to work on my patience with my babies. They are my children and I want to them grow up with a patient and loving mom. I don't want their memories to be of me losing my cool because the toys were not...

Day 3/4

Well, it seems some kind of sickness has come to annoy my household. So far only C has been sick. He has had a fever for two days with a headache, nothing else. I am hoping it is only his ears, as bad ad that sounds. We do not need any more viruses to go through each member of the household. So the past two days have been spent tending to the sickie and trying to not get sick myself. So exciting here!

Day 2: proud!

I got up, ate breakfast (gasp), started laundry, tended to the fire and exercised!! It wasn't a full out, go until I drop workout. I am easing back into it. I did just give birth 2.5 months ago! So thankful that the bigger kids and the baby all cooperated with me so I could make that "me" time happen! Cute kid moment: Jeriah smiling and trying to giggle at Cohen this morning. Melted my heart!

Overheard...

Image
I was sitting on the couch when I overhear this convo between Cohen and Lily. C- I came from Mama's belly. L- (mumbling in Liliananese ;) ) yup C- Mama came from my belly and you came from Dada. L- OHHHHHH Never thought my 3 yr old would be giving my 19 month old that kind of talk LOL. Too bad he is severely misinformed. Gotta love them!

Today I am thankful...

Image
Today I am thankful .... That my floor is covered in toys: it means I have happy and healthy kids who can get down and play. That my sink has dirty dishes: it means we got to eat today. That I have loads of dirty laundry: it means we have clothes to keep us warm. That I am alone all day with no adult interaction: it means my husband has a job to go to so we can provide for our family. All these things may annoy me and drive me crazy but they also let me know to be thankful too. It gets so hard to be thankful now a days with all the job losses and money problems. I guess we need to look for the little things in life and just smile!
