My thought of today

Image
I saw this quote the other day that has been stuck in my mind.    “Be you. Everyone else is taken.” I do not know who said it but it is so true in this world. I look around and see some many people trying to be like their friends, neighbours, co workers etc. The problem is they cannot keep up with them. I am tired of watching people go into debt while trying to keep up with the “Jones’s”.   We just need to learn to be content with ourselves and to stop trying to live someone else life.  The sad part is that we are passing these ideals unto our kids. Our kids are learning that you need the coolest phone, TV, car, biggest house etc, in order to be happy. This is a bunch of lies. Plain and simple.  I grew up in home where we did not have a lot of money. My brother and I learned young that you have work for things you want. We had our needs met and never went without. We did not have the coolest toys or clothes growing up. We still had a wonderful childhood. ...

Admitting my addictions.

I have to say this. Besides my God, husband, kids, and family I have two other great loves. I have a love affair with...Tim Horton’s coffee. I am purely Canadian. I love this stuff so much that I have started buying the perk at home coffee. 6$ for a little can! It is so worth it though!   That little slice of heaven in the morning starts my day off.    Some will call me an addict and I am will admit it freely.   I will be a happy woman as long as I have my Timmie’s and chocolate! Speaking of chocolate...that is my other love affair. I may even love it more than my Timmie’s!   Shh don’t say anything!   There is nothing yummier than a slow melting piece of chocolate. It will help chase the blues away and bring a little happiness to a bad day. I love chocolate in all it’s forms: bars, chips, cheescake etc. Ok ,Ok, cheesecake is not really a form of chocolate but it is one of my favorite ways to eat it!  I am a simple girl with simple loves.

Some Chore File Info

Image
I know few of you were curious about my chore card/files system that I started. So here is the info, along with pictures to show my box. First I went through each room in the house and wrote down what needed to be done in that room. I went through that list and decided what needed to be done daily, weekly, and seasonally.  I wrote each task down on a colored 3x5 inch card. The chore is written in big letters on one side. The other side has info that goes with that chore. Yellow cards for daily: laundry, dishes etc. Blue for weekly: dusting, scrubbing etc. White for seasonally: sorting through shoes/clothes, seasonal cleaning etc. Pink for personal : doc appt, workouts etc. Next I made dividers for my box. I made one for each day, Monday to Sunday. One for weekly, seasonal and personal. Next I divided up my daily cards. I made a set of cards for each day. It says the same things on each set but this way they can just stay in the day file. My weekly cards are in ...

Two Resolutions Started.

Well I started the gym yesterday! I did the circuit for 3 rounds. I am exhausted but my body is not really sore. I am sure after my next workout, it will be screaming.   I have a great workout partner whom I love :O)! I also started my new cleaning “program” yesterday. Basically I wrote down all my daily, weekly, and monthly   chores on 3x5 cards. I made a weekly divider. The daily ones stay in their day file. Every week and month gets put into a day file when their time comes. Today I have all my Tuesday chores on my fridge and as I do them, I simply put the card back in it’s file. I have tried lists and I always lose it. This way I see the cards everytime I go into the kitchen. They are there, glaring at me until I do them and put them away.   I got the idea from this site. Check it out!   http://organizedhome.com/shes-organized Now I have to work on making these two things happen daily. Here is to forming new habits and routines!

Monday: Gym Joining Day is here. I am beyond excited for this! I am so excited to have 30-40 mins a day devoted to me. It is my break from the house work, the kids, hubby shift working job, and issues of life. I get to gather my thoughts and become refreshed to deal with life. I get to all of this and get healthy at the same time.   I cannot wait to see the changes that are going to take place in my mind, body, spirit and life! 2011 is my year!  Here I come!
